NIGERIAN ARMY BELONGS TO NIGERIANS...AS COAS COMMISSIONS SOLAR WATER PROJECT IN ADAMAWA STATE

In a significant display of commitment to community development and welfare of citizens, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS),  Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has commissioned a solar powered water plant amongst other projects for Gwadabawa Community in Adamawa state. The project which was part of the COAS Special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation Project is aimed at providing portable, clean and accessible water to the community. It equally stands as a testament to the Nigerian Army's dedication to serving the people.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the COAS emphasized the Nigerian Army's status as the people's army, highlighting the important role the Army plays in safeguarding the nation and contributing to the well-being of citizens. He expressed gratitude to an illustrious son of the community, Major General Mohammed Bello for his selfless service to the nation, which he noted served as the impetus and inspiration for the water project in his community. 

Represented by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the COAS   remarked that the project aims to address the critical need for clean water in the community. It is also expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the residents, while improving access to safe drinking water and promoting better hygiene practices. He further noted that, by undertaking initiatives like the water project, the Nigerian Army demonstrates its dedication to serving the people beyond its core responsibilities.

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja further noted that the commissioning of the water project marks a significant step towards community development and reflects the Nigerian Army's recognition of the invaluable contributions made by its members who hail from the communities. He said the project will equally strengthen the bond between the army and the people they protect, fostering a sense of unity, shared responsibility and mutual respect. He revealed that the Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its commitment to national security, social responsibility, and the well-being of the Nigerian people while thanking the President and Commander in Chief,His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to the military. He thanked the project executor for the quality of work done and ensuring the completion of the project within the time frame.

Delivering his welcome address earlier, the project executor,  Major General Mohammed Bello thanked the COAS for honouring him with the project.  He noted that the special intervention project was undertaken and completed with a capacity to provide forty thousand litres of portable water to the community on daily basis. He noted the significance of the initiative towards  permanently resolving the epileptic water supply in the area.

Delivering his remarks, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Major General Nosa Ugbo explained that the project was a symbol of friendship between the Nigerian Army and the civil society. He further noted that it was a non-kinetic approach to addressing contemporary security challenges. 

On his part,  the Executive Governor of Adamawa state,  Rt Hon Umaru Fintiri applauded the Army for going beyond it's constitutional responsibility to provide basic infrastructure for the citizens.  He revealed the commitment of the state government  to ensuring portable water supply remains the topmost priority among the welfare needs of the people.

NPF-NCCC SHUTDOWN CRIMINAL CYBERCRIME TRAINING AND OPERATIONAL CENTER, ARRESTS SIX THREAT ACTORS.

- As IGP charges NCCC Directorate to Intensify Efforts, Calls for Collaboration with Critical Societal Stakeholders.

In a significant stride against cybercrime and cyber-related offences, the Nigeria Police Force - National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) has successfully uncovered and dismantled a sophisticated cybercrime syndicate operating in a Cybercrime recruitment and mentoring hub in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The investigation and operation was initiated in response to a series of intelligence reports that indicated a deep involvement of the syndicate in various cybercrimes, including Business Email Compromise, Romance Scams, and High Yield Investment Program Fraud. Upon receiving the intelligence, a team of Cybercrime Forensic Experts and Investigators were detailed on the case, painstaking effort expended in clinically investigating the case which led to the arrest of six (6) suspects at their hideout in the Dantata estate area of the FCT and the recovery of several digital gadgets and effects used in perpetrating their criminal enterprise on the 13th of September, 2023.

The suspects namely Bernard Joseph aged 27, Emmanuel Joseph aged 22, Obasi Ikechukwu aged 19, Anijiofor Tobechuckwu aged 26, Andrew Moses aged 19, and Israel Ezekiel aged 19, summarily confessed to their various degrees of involvement in cybercrime including identity theft, hacking and trading of hacked Facebook accounts, romance scam, computer related forgery, and other computer related fraud punishable under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 It is pertinent to state that the investigation is ongoing and efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of this criminal network are underway. Meanwhile, the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Inspector General of Police Ag. IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., while reiterating the commitment of the Force to combatting crime at all fronts irrespective of its dynamics, has directed the Director, NPF-NCCC, Uche Ifeanyi Henry, to take no break in ensuring the safety of individuals and enterprises online. He also urges parents, wards, thought leaders, and social/religious institutions to outrightly condemn this menace and partner with the Police in ensuring a safer digital space for all.

In addition, the NPF wishes to urge landlords/landladies, facility owners, to expose any such cybercrime recruitment centre and mentoring hubs noticed in their areas or houses. We need to break the conspiracy of silence and expose the evil doers in our society.

We want to reassure the public that we will continually work with partners, stakeholders, and other relevant security agencies to decimate activities of cyber criminals and other criminals across the country.

In a discreet operation against marauding terrorists in Sokoto state, troops of 8 Division Garrison today Tuesday 24 October 2023, launched a carefully planned offensive operation into Tukandu Village, targeting a notorious group of terrorists, responsible for various atrocious and heinous activities in the general area.

The troops' fierce onslaught terminated many of the terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds. In the following mop up operations, troops recovered three AK-47 Rifles, one PKT Gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 2 Rocket propelled Gun Bombs and 9 motorcycles. 

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has lauded the troops, charging them to remain resolute and continue to escalate their operations against the terrorists to decimate and deny them the freedom of action.

DEFENCE MINISTER LAUDS NIGERIAN ARMY FOR SACRIFICES, SELFLESSNESS ...Pledges continuous support

The Honourable Minister of Defence @MODInfoNg Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has lauded troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) for their sacrifice and selflessness in tackling security challenges  bedeviling the country. The minister gave the commendation after receiving a brief on the operational engagements of the NA on Tuesday 24 October 2023, during his maiden familiarization visit to the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

The minister, who was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian Army in fighting emerging security challenges, pledging that the Federal Government will do all within its powers to support the Nigerian Army, especially through interventions in provision of accommodation, manpower, logistics and combat enablers to enhance personnel's morale and operational efficiency in mitigating security challenges across the country.

Congratulating the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for the  successes so far attained, the minister averred that the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu  will continue to support the NA to achieve its constitutional responsibilities. He urged the troops not to relent in restoring the desired peace to the country.

In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle called on Nigerians to appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of the military and security agencies, who give their all in protecting the nation. Matawalle also urged the public to support officers and men of the Armed Forces as they perform their statutory function of protecting the citizenry. He added, that the NA approach to  ending insecurity should be all-of-society approach, stressing that Non-Kinectic approach will facilitate holistic decisions, to enhance peace and tranquility in the country.

The Minister of State also advocated for intelligence sharing among security agencies in the country to enhance ongoing operations.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in his remarks expressed gratitude to the Honorable Minister and Minister of State for Defence for their support to the NA in its strive to combat insecurity. He noted that the NA has thus far received visible interventions from the Federal Government, which he maintained, has been positively impactful on NA operations.

He pledged that the NA in synergy with sister services and other security agencies will not fail the nation in providing adequate security to attain peace in the country.

The Nigerian Army has passed out over 6000 Recruits of the 85 Regular Recruit Intake (RRI) in a colourful regimental Passing Out Parade (POP) held today Saturday 21 October 2023 at the Parade Ground of the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna state.

The journey to soldering by the Six Thousand Three Hundred and Fifteen (6,315) passing out  Recruits, began after successfully undergoing a painstaking selection process, and reporting for training at the Depot Nigerian Army on 3 June 2023, culminating in today's POP.

Addressing the Passing out Recruits, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja felicitated with the young soldiers for the successful completion of their training, describing it as qualitative, realistic and tailored to meet contemporary security needs of the country.

Gen Lagbaja reiterated that in tandem with his Command philosophy "to transform the Nigerian Army into a force, well trained, equipped and highly motivated towards achieving its constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment",  troops' training and welfare are top most priorities under his command. He reaffirmed that the Nigerian Army will continue to give troops' training and welfare the priority it deserves, adding, that currently emphasis is on the renovation of accommodation facilities that are in deplorable states, while efforts are also being made to provide additional ones.  "Our soldiers deserve the best accommodation we can provide, when they are not in the frontline as incentives for their sacrifices. The COAS also maintained that under his stewardship, the Nigerian Army is improving its medical facilities, to make them more suitable to handle all battle casualties arising from operational engagements.

The Army Chief reminded the young soldiers, that soldiering is a life of sacrifice to country, allegiance to defend and if need be, pay the supreme price. "As you pass out today, you have accepted the highest call to duty, any Nigerian can take up" he declared.

In the presentation of awards that followed,  the Indian Training Company among others, emerged the Champion Company and received the Depot Nigerian Army Champion Banner, while, Recruit Abdullahi Abubakar bagged the Chief of Army Staff Award for coming tops amongst his mates, Recruit Ugwu Clifford clinched the  Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Award, Recruit Ideba Love won the Chief of Administration (Army) Award, while the Chief of Training (Army) Award went to Recruit Edet Samuel.

 Dignitaries who graced the Passing out Parade with their esteemed presence include, the Governor of Kaduna state Senator Uba Sani, Chairman Senate Committee on Army Senator Abdulazziz Yar'adau, former Chief of Army Staff Maj Gen Alwali Kazir, Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy Maj Gen John Ochai, representative of the Emir of Zazzau, Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, amongst several others.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has solicited the support of royal fathers of the traditional institution for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in ensuring that enduring peace and harmony reign in their domains. The COAS made the plea today, when he paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness  Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamali at his palace in Zaria.
He commiserated with the Emir and good people of Zazzau Emirate on the recent passing of their illustrious son, Nigeria's Ambassador to Morocco, Alhaji Mansur Nuhu Bamali and prayed for divine fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. The Royal father in his remarks, gave his blessings to the COAS and assured of his support and that of  his Emirate to the Nigerian Army.

The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC) invites all candidates, who successfully completed their online registration for admission into the 10th Regular Course, for Automated Physical/Credential Screening, Computer-Based Test (CBT), Medical Screening and Board Interview exercises, scheduled to hold from Monday, November 6th, to Wednesday, November 30th, 2023, 0800hrs daily, at the Nigeria Police Academy. Kindly visit www.polac.edu.ng to print your invitation slip from 21st October, 2023.
All applicants are expected to finish their screening on the day of their invitation. Only those who pass the CBT will be accommodated in POLAC to proceed to the next stage of the exercise which is the Medical Screening and subsequently, the Board Interview. 
Consequently, all applicants are to appear at the screening centre in their clean white T-shirt and short with the following mandatory basic screening requirements, neatly arranged in two white flat files with a recent passport photographs attached:
Evidence of physical/mental fitness from a government recognized Medical Hospital
Evidence of Good character from Village/District Head of the applicant.
Certificate of Origin signed by Local Government Chairman or Secretary

Any candidate who fails to present the items (i -viii) mentioned in Paragraph 3 above, will not be considered for screening.

Meanwhile, the Commandant, AIG Sadiq I. Abubakar, mni, has assured  transparency and accountability throughout the screening exercise. The Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., has granted approval for the posting of dedicated Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) to some Commands and Formations within the Nigeria Police Force. These appointments are instrumental in enhancing communication, transparency, and community engagement in the affected duty areas.

The newly appointed PPROs include DSP Chukwukadibia O. Omojola to PPRO Railway Command; ASP Mansir Hassanto PPRO Kaduna State Command; ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth to PPRO Borno State Command; and ASP Mayegun Aminat Oluwakemi to PPRO Force Criminal Investigations Annex, Lagos.

These officers have been carefully selected based on their professional aptitude, communication skills, and commitment to fostering positive relations between the police and the public. They will play a pivotal role in building trust between the Nigeria Police Force and the communities.

The Inspector General of Police congratulates the newly appointed PPROs on their new roles and expresses confidence in their abilities to fulfil their duties with dedication and distinction. Their postings take immediate effect.

KANO SPECIAL CONSTABULARY NOT POLICE OFFICERS BUT RECOGNISED BY
 LAW -PSC

The attention of the Police Service Commission has been drawn to the operations of the Special Constabulary in Kano state especially the issue of a repentant criminal said to have been recruited into the organisation. 

The Commission wishes to state categorically that the Special Constabulary are not Police men and not recognised as such by the Commission and Government. 

The Commission however notes that the Constabulary operations are covered and recognised by the Police Act and are readily useful and needed now that the nation is fighting to end the siege of criminals across the country.

The Commission is in touch with the Kano State Police Command and is aware that the use of the Constabulary is to support the Police in building a crime free Kano State.

It is necessary to state that the men and women recruited as Special Constabulary are posted to work in their locality where they will be in a better position to fish out the criminals terrorising the place.

Some of the repentant influential youths previously used in the past as political thugs and abandoned have realised that crime does not pay and have voluntarily offered themselves to assist fight for a crime free state.

The Commission is also aware that the Kano Special Constabulary has received adequate training and are working in their Local Government areas as required by law but under strict supervision of the State Police Command. 

Their engagement is obviously for visibility and to promote Sustainable peace, economic growth and development of the state.

Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, former Inspector General of Police says the Commission will continue to partner with the Police to ensure an improved security of lives and property in the country.  

Dr. Arase noted that security is not only a government responsibility but that of every Nigerian and called for a citizen based approach to security in Nigeria.

He however disclosed that the Commission in consultation with the Inspector General of Police will ensure that the uniform of the Constabularies are clearly differentiated from that of the Nigeria Police Force to avoid cases of identity crisis and also define their specific roles in the security architecture of the nation.

NIGERIAN ARMY INTENSIFY OPERATIONS ACROSS THEATRES... Neutralize Insurgents in Birnin Gwari

Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) have continued to sustain the aggressive posture  of ongoing operations to rid the nation of terrorism, insurgency and sundry crimes across the country. 

In recent operations, troops of 2 Battalion acting on actionable intelligence on 17 October 2023  staged an ambush against marauding insurgents at Udowa general area in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State. During the operations, troops neutralized three insurgents in a fierce fire fight, while others escaped in disarray. Troops recovered from the fleeing insurgents, a bandolier containing 111 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one AK 47 magazine,  2 motorcycles, one set of high frequency  communication radio and 2 mobile phones. Sadly one soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter. 

In another operation the same day, troops of 1 Brigade on a stop and search operation intercepted a suspected Ammunition courier in Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara State. A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was on a mission to deliver ammunition to a Bandit leader named Gishiri. The vigilant troops recovered a bag containing 224 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,  one mobile phone and the sum of four thousand naira (#4,000)only from the courier. The suspect is currently in custody undergoing further investigations. 

In the North East theatre of operations,  a notorious Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) Commander, identified as Bulama Bukar has surrendered to troops of 5 Brigade in Gubio.The surrendered terrorist was the commander of the BHT Camp Tapkin Chad at Gilima village in Abadam LGA of Borno state.  Items recovered from the surrendered terrorist include one AK 47 rifle,  5 magazines,  44 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one magazine carrier jacket,  one knife,  one motorcycle and the sum of twenty three thousand,  five hundred naira (#23,500.00) only.  The suspect is currently undergoing profiling sessions.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D, NPM, has, on the 17th of October, 2023, convened a high-powered inter-agency consultative security meeting at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters Abuja. The meeting was organized in preparation for the off-season elections scheduled for November 11, 2023, in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States.

Representing the IGP at the event was the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of operations, DIG Ede Ayuba, who underlined the paramount significance of cross-fertilizing ideas among various security and law enforcement agencies towards election security. The goal is to develop collaborative strategies that will ensure the upcoming elections are secure, free, fair, and credible.

In attendance were senior officers representing the leadership of various security and law enforcement agencies involved in election security. These included  representatives of the Service Chiefs (CDS, CoAS, CoNS, and CoAFS)  Chief of Defence Intelligence CDI, DG DSS, DG NIA, CG NIS, CG NSCDC, CG NCS, CG correctional Services, CG Federal Fire Service, and DG NDLEA.

DIG Ede Ayuba praised the collaborative efforts of the armed forces and other sister law enforcement agencies, highlighting their role in fostering unity and contributing to the success of past general elections. The meeting was identified as one among a series of brainstorming sessions outlined by the Force, aimed at securing the forthcoming off-season elections on November 11, 2023.

The meeting, which will be continuous till after the forthcoming guber elections in the 3 affected states, encompassed a range of topics, reflecting the diverse considerations of election security, including an in-depth analysis of potential threats and vulnerabilities in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo States, Intelligence Sharing, Logistical Planning, Conflict Prevention, Technology and Innovations as well as manpower deployment.

The DIG, while emphasizing the plans of the IGP to maitain law and order during the elections, at the meeting, warned political gladiators, and their followers to be law-abiding and play the game according to the rules as the police and other security agencies will never allow any act of hooliganism, political rascality and lawlessness in any part of the affected States or in any other state across the country.

NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS CAPTURE ARTILLERY PROJECTILE LAUNCHERS FROM IPOB/ESN CAMP IN ANAMBRA ... Sack Oil Thieves' Hideouts in Imo

 Combined troops of 302 Artillery and 14 Field Engineer Regiments of the Nigerian Army, conducting operations against terrorists, have on Monday 16 October 2023 captured two locally made Artillery Projectile Launchers from fighters of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN).The artillery weapons, armed with projectiles were seized alongside other items, as troops swooped on the dissident fighters, who fled in disarray, deserting their camp on sighting troops' advancement.

In the operation, one combatant of the dissident group was arrested and several items, including 48 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition, 4 mobile phones, one handheld communication radio and substance suspected to be cannabis, among others were recovered by the troops. 

In a separate operation on the same day, troops of 34 Artillery Brigade  conducted an offensive operation against oil thieves in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.  Troops recovered several items from the camp, including one crude oil cooking oven, three reservoirs,  several connecting hoses and pipes, three mobile phones, one Power Generating set, 3 Pumping machines, one CCTV Camera mounted on a tree top,  substance suspected to be cannabis and some fetish objects. 
 
Same troops, in a similar operation conducted the same day, uncovered and destroyed an illegal refining site, operating with several drums and crude oil ovens, laden with stolen crude oil,  a dug out pit containing about 50,000 litres of crude oil and 57 sacks of illegally refined automation gas oil. Surprisingly,  the sacks of illegally refined products were surreptitiously  concealed in a community health centre at Egbema Shell and Egbema West respectively in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja reiterates the NA's commitment to maintaining peace and security in the country and has charged the troops to be resolute and uncompromising in the fight against terrorists, economic saboteurs and other criminal groups in the country. He enjoins members of the public to provide credible information to security agencies to enhance ongoing operational efforts to improve security across the country.

TROOPS OF OPERATION UDO KA II CONDUCT CLEARANCE OPERATION 

Troops of Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA II based on intelligence continued with its clearance operations to Lilu Community, Mother Valley and Orsumoghu Forest in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State and Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State respectively on Saturday, 14 October 2023. 

During the clearance operations, troops encountered and detonated many Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) insitu as well as various type of obstacles. The undeterred troops also came in contact with the terrorists who fled into the nearby bushes with gunshot wounds due to superior fire power. Several camps and shrines of the terrorists were destroyed. One suspect was arrested and items recovered at the camps include; IED making materials, motorcycles, stored foods and other logistics items.

Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA II therefore, call on the law abiding and good citizens of the South-East region not to relent in providing timely, credible and reliable Information which will help in apprehending those that escaped with different degrees of injuries. We also wish to use this medium to urge the good people of the South East region to ignore the deceitful tweet of the self acclaimed Biafra leader Simon Ekpa and be rest assured that the South East region will be free of all forms of criminality.

 Operation UDO KA II will continue combating crime and criminality in accordance with the extant rules and regulations guiding its operation.

TROOPS OF OPERATION SAFE HAVEN FROM 9 - 16 OCTOBER 2023 NEUTRALISE BANDITS, ARMED ROBBERS, ARREST WANTED KIDNAPPERS, RECOVER ARMS /AMMUNITIONS, SECURE CONVICTIONS IN JOINT OPERATION AREA

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) on Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV from 9 to 16 October 2023 neutralised bandit/armed robbers and arrested 59 suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, railway vandalism, gunrunning, illegal mining as well as recovered arms/ammunitions and illicit drugs. 

On 11 October 2023, troops neutralised a suspected bandit named Saidu AKA Director, who attempted to escape after being arrested in possession of 39 rounds of 7.62mm special, mobile phone, headset and some money. Before the suspect was neutralised, he confessed to have bought the ammunition from one Usman in Bisichi. Troops mobilised to the house but met his absence and recovered one AK 47 rifle, 5 cartridges, one baofeng radio/charger, one woodland camouflage vest and one black trouser. Similarly on the same day, troops deployed at Qua’anpan Area Command neutralised one armed robber while others fled with bullet wounds during an armed robbery attack along Amingo- Lafia road in Qua’anpan local government area of Plateau State and recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine, 2 rounds of 7.62mm special, 1 Techno mobile phone and a pair of sccks. 

On 9 October 2023, troops engaged bandits in a gun duel around Jimlari village while moving to Ardo Kola village. Troops’ superior firepower forced the bandits to flee, with many sustaining high degree of gunshot wounds. Troops further exploited the area and rescued two kidnapped civilians, Musa Alhaji Bello and Dauda, earlier kidnapped by the bandits. Troops recovered one mobile phone,one torchlight, 36 empty cases, some drugs, 5 blankets, 2 cooking pots, 3 gallons, 2 plates, 9 mats and other household items. Similarly, on 10 October 2023, troops acting on credible information arrested a notorious kidnapper, Madu Abubakar at Kwa village in Qua’anpan LGA. The suspect was arrested with 4 rounds of 7.62mm special and one motorcycle. Preliminary investigation linked suspect to the recent kidnapping of an Accountant with Union Bank in Doemark general area. Also on 12 October 2023, troops of Sector 4 foiled an attempted attack by suspected militias on Bisichi village in Barkin Ladi LGA and recovered one motorcycle. Additionally, OPSH tactical team arrested 2 suspected kidnappers, Mamu Dauda and Mohammed Zakari, who have been on the wanted list of OPSH at Zango Urban in Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State. While carrying out the operation, troops recovered one rifle, one motorcycle, 3 mobile phones, one dagger and some amount of money. Troops also arrested 2 suspected kidnappers, Aliyu Usman and Umar Babuga at Jagindi Tashe village in Jema’a LGA . Furthermore, troops conducted raid operation at Mararaban Sabon Gida in Sanga LGA of Kaduna State and arrested a suspected kidnapper,Abdulkadir Rufai who is a member of a criminal gang terrorizing Sanga general area. 

Also, on 10 October 2023, troops deployed at Dukku LGA arrested 2 suspects, Malam Malkudi Dothy and Malam Danladi Ibrahim with one pistol and 2 motorcycles.

In the same vein, troops on 12 October 2023 arrested a suspected gunrunner, Mohammed Kabiru at Koko Ibi Lau LGA and recovered one pistol and 3 cartridges. Similarly, troops deployed at Mangu LGA, arrested a suspect with a rifle, AK 47 magazine, a plier and hammer. On 12 October 2023, troops while on patrol also arrested one Ayuba Sati at Jannaret in Mangu LGA of Plateau State with one AK 47 rifle, one empty AK 47 magazine, one motorcycle, one jerrycan, one techno mobile phone and some amount of money.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja has charged troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army(NA) to go after economic saboteurs and ensure they are completely stamped out. He gave the charge today Friday 13 April 2023 in Port Harcourt, while addressing troops during his maiden working tour to 6 Division Area of Responsibility.

General Lagbaja reiterated that the main focus of the Federal Government is economic recovery, security and infrastructural development. The nation, he said cannot experience meaningful economic recovery without having a firm grip of the oil industry, stressing that troops are critical to securing the nation's oil industry. He further charged them to be loyal, disciplined and committed to their constitutional responsibilities. "Your loyalty, first is to the Constitution and Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria " he asserted. He used the platform to admonish troops not to violate the codes of conduct guiding the execution of their operations to ensure the safety and security of the society. He emphasized, that he wants to continually receive positive feedback about troops of 6 Division throughout the period of Exercise STILL WATERS III.  

During the visit, General Lagbaja commissioned landmark projects, as well as critical operational platforms needed to rejig amphibious operations in the Niger Delta region. He stated that the set of 10 Gunboats procured is the first wave, as efforts are ongoing to acquire more platforms that will improve the operational capability of the NA in the riverine domain.

The COAS later visited 6 Division Step Up Headquarters at Ahoada, where he stressed the importance of inter agency collaboration. " We brought you here together with the personnel of other security agencies, so that you can work together in a multi agency environment, essentially to consolidate on existing interagency cooperation. You must work together, you must work as comrades" he averred.  

Earlier at Ahoada, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam appreciated the COAS for the strategic, moral and financial support to the Division. He clarified, that Exercise STILL WATERS III will provide an opportunity for commanders and operatives, to carry out effective operational planning, logistics preparation and conduct of Military Operations Other than War (MOOW), as well as tactical amphibious operations. He added, that it will also focus on the conduct of civil-military activities geared towards winning the hearts and minds of the local populace.

Highlight of the visit was the flag off of Exercise STILL WATERS III in Rivers state, courtesy call on the Governor of Rivers State, Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, commissioning of several projects, including 10 Gunboats, remodelled 6 Division Headquarters Complex reception, twin Regimental Sergeant Majors quarters, Ordnance tailoring factory, remodelled Corpers' Lodge and new office complex to accommodate the Headquarters 26 Support Engineer Regiment amongst others.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADARIN DAJI RESCUED 4 STUDENTS OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY GUSAU IN ZAMFARA

In their timely and swift response to distress calls, the combined Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in conjunction with Nigerian police in Zamfara state have again rescued 4 kidnapped students of the Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) who were abducted by terrorists at the dark hours on Saturday 14 October 2023 from their off campus residence at Sabon Gida under Damba area of Gusau LGA in Zamfara state.

This was achieved as the troops responded swiftly to distress call on the kidnapped students by terrorists. Troops immediately mobilized and formed blocking position at a possible withdrawal route which led to heavy gun duel with the terrorists. Troops superiority forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and fled. During the encounter with the terrorists around 12 am, 2 of the students were able to escape while other 2 students a male and female were safely rescued by the troops.

TROOPS OF 1 DIVISION NEUTRALIZE  BANDIT, RESCUES  KIDNAP VICTIMS AND CAPTURE AK 47 RIFLES IN KADUNA

The ongoing clearance operation by troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army has continue to yield positive result. Acting on credible and timely intelligence on the kidnap of 6 persons at Hayin Tsando general area of Maraban Jos,  the gallant troops quickly mobilize and  embarked on a search and rescue operation. The troops made contact with bandits/criminal elements and   a heavy fire fight ensued.  

During the operation, troops successfully rescued 6 kidnapped victims, captured 2 AK 47 rifles and neutralized one bandit while others escaped with several degrees of gunshot wounds.

The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander operation Whirl Punch Maj Gen Valantine Okoro has commended the troops for their resilience and further charged them to continue their aggressive tempo   until all criminal elements in the Division's Area of Responsibility are completely eradicated. He also appealed to all paramedics to be on lookout for persons with gunshot wounds and report to the Nigerian Army and other sister security services for prompt action.

GOVERNOR ENO RESTATES SUPPORT FOR THE NIGERIAN ARMY FOR KEEPING AKWA IBOM PEACEFUL

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno has expressed his continuous support to the Nigerian Army(NA) for her sacrifices  in the midst of daunting security challenges and keeping Akwa Ibom peaceful. Governor Eno made the declaration, when the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Saturday 14 October 2023.

Speaking further, Governor Eno noted that the commitment and dedication of troops of the Nigerian Army in synergy with other security agencies have kept the peace in Akwa Ibom, thus providing a conducive environment for socio-economic development. The Governor  expatiated that  the State Government  and the good people of Akwa Ibom have over the years cultivated a robust and cordial relationship with the Army and other security agencies, maintaining, that this accounts for for the creation of the Ministry of Internal Security and Waterways to enable the state government effectively and proactively partner the security forces and agencies for meaningful security in the state.
 
He disclosed that the state has procured 14 patrol boats for patrolling the coastal areas of the state to tackle the menace of piracy and kidnapping.

Stating the purpose of his visit, the COAS reiterated, that he is on a working tour of formations and units of the NA to assess their state of readiness, revealing that he was in Akwa Ibom to inspect Headquarters 2 Brigade and to inaugurate a Civil-Military project initiated by one of their sons , Major General Uwem Bassey.

The Army Chief appreciated the Governor for the unprecedented level of support  extended to the Brigade and the 6 Battalion, Abak to enhance their operational effectiveness.

General Lagbaja declared that the Nigerian Army is the peoples' Army, asserting that the army is for all Nigerians and should be seen as such. He reassured the Governor that the formations and units operating in the state are to dutifully provide  safe and secure atmosphere for economic growth and development in the state and the nation in general.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Eno Umo Bassey has flagged Off Exercise STILL WATERS III on thursday 12 October, 2023, at 2 Brigade Step-Up Headquarters, Ikot Afanag, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator(Dr) Akon Eyakenyi commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for the Exercise. She noted that the 2 Brigade and other security agencies have been playing a critical role in ensuring that the State continues to enjoy the nationally recognized and enviable status as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. She further added that threats of cultism, insurgency, kidnapping among other security issues will be curtailed in the state with the level of synergy existing between the Nigerian Army(NA) and other security agencies. 

Earlier, the Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General KE Chigbu, while making his remarks stated that, the event could not have come at a better time than now, when there are growing concerns about the security challenges confronting the state and nation at large. He added that the Brigade in collaboration with the other security agencies in Akwa Ibom state will continue to work in synergy to support the state government. He further added that both kinetic and non-kinetic lines of operations would be explored to effectively tackle the threats bedevilling the state in line with the command philosophy of the COAS.

Highlights of events were crowd dispersal drills, aerial surveillance/support for the flag-off event by the Nigerian Air Force, presentation of souvenirs, medical outreach, and group photograph.

The Nigeria Police Force is pleased to announce the commencement of the recruitment process for qualified individuals into the rank of Police Constables in the General Duty and Specialist Cadres. The Police Recruitment Board is set to open the application portal on October 15th, 2023, marking the beginning of an essential phase in enhancing the Force's capabilities and effectiveness. The online application portal will be opened for the period of six weeks from 15th October to 26th November 2023, where prospective applicants are required to complete the online application forms and submit same within the specified period via www.apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng 

Applicants shall be of Nigerian origin by birth and must possess the National Identification Number (NIN) with a minimum of 5 credits in not more than 2 sittings in WAEC/NECO or its equivalent with credit passes in English and Mathematics, and aged between 18-25 years for General Duty, and 18-28 years for Specialists; medically, physically, and psychologically fit and must not be less than 1.67m tall for male and 1.64m tall for female, with not less than 86cm (34 inches) expanded chest measurement (for male only). TROOPS OF THE JOINT TASK FORCE NORTH WEST OPERATION HADARIN DAJI RESCUED 17 KIDNAPPED PERSONS IN KEBBI STATE

The Quick Response Force (QRF) of the Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI deployed at Malekachi in Kebbi state in a timely and swift response to distress call have successfully rescued 17 kidnapped victims and captured operational Motorcycles from terrorists during a rescue operation.

This feat was recently achieved at the dark hours on the 12 October 2023 when troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI deployed at Malekachi  conducted a rescue operation following credible information that  terrorists had kidnapped unspecified numbers of persons at Kanya village of Danko- Wasagu LGA of Kebbi state and trying to cross with the victims towards Niger state. 

Troops swiftly mobilized and laid ambush at the suspected routes and crossing point to be used by the terrorists at Karenbana village. Subsequently, troops fire power superiority forced the terrorists to abandon the victims and escaped with gunshot wounds leading to the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims. The rescued victims comprised 6 females and 11 males including a police personnel who were kidnapped at Danko- Wasagu. The rescued victims were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Bena to reunite them with their families. Also troops recovered 5 Motorcycles which were burnt Insitu.

The Commander Joint Task Force North West Operation HADARIN DAJI Major General Godwin Mutkut has commended the timely response of the troops, charged them to do more and continue to deny the terrorists any freedom of action. He further commended the timely information provided by the people which has led to the rescue of the victims. He urged them to be more vigilant and quickly report to the troops any activities of the terrorists within their communities.

The Executive Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Adeleke has lauded the Nigerian Army(NA) for protecting and ensuring uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria since 1999. The Governor gave the commendation at Ede, when he received the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, who paid him a courtesy call today Thursday 12 October 2023, while on a working tour of Nigerian Army formations and units in 2 Division Area of responsibility. Governor Adeleke clarified further, that the Nigerian Army has been instrumental to the thriving of democracy in Nigeria, by remaining professional and adhering strictly to its constitutional responsibilities, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Governor urged the troops to remain steadfast and continue to maintain peace and harmony amongst the populace, in concert with sister services and other security agencies. He pledged the State's support to the NA.
 
In his remarks during the visit, Gen Lagbaja appreciated the Government and good people of Osun state for their support to the NA in executing its constitutional mandate, assuring, that the NA will remain committed in delivering on its statutory responsibilities.

In another development, the Chief of Army Staff today joined the Executive Governor of Osun state Senator Ademola Adeleke to inaugurate new blocks of classrooms at the Local Authority Primary School, Alusekere, Ede Osun state. The project, which was executed by Maj Gen Kamal Yusuf, comprised three new blocks of classrooms, a rehabilitated block, teachers' office, furnishing of nine classrooms, a perimeter fence around the school and a borehole. 

Speaking at the commissioning, the COAS averred that the project is a Chief of Army Staff Civil Military Cooperation Special Intervention Project, conceptualized to provide top notch facilities to complement state infrastructural development in appreciation of the people's support to the Nigerian Army. He pointed out, however, that the intervention does not put the NA in any competition or rivalry with any group, nor is it intended to give political advantage to any serving or retired officer. He maintained, that it is a non-kinetic approach, employed by the NA to address contemporary security challenges.

The Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Maj Gen Nosa Ugbo while introducing the project, noted that it is a way for the Nigerian Army to give back to the society for their support and cooperation with the NA in all its endeavours. 

Meanwhile, the COAS has commissioned a Parade Ground, Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess, as well as a Soldiers' Club at the Engineer Construction Command, Ede in Osun state during his working visit to the formation. He enjoined the troops to sustain their expertise as Sappers to ensure they continue to effectively deliver vital engineering support services to the Army and the nation at large.

The Army Chief also took time to pay a courtesy visit to the Ataoja of Oshogbo, HRM Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II at his palace. Gen Lagbaja expressed appreciation to the royal father for the role of the traditional institution in ensuring peace and harmony in their domains. In his response, the Ataoja assured of his Royal blessings and support to the NA.

“NIGERIAN ARMY IS UNDERGOING VIGOROUS OPERATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE TRANSFORMATION , DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND" GEN LAGBAJA TELLS TROOPS”

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has revealed that the Nigerian Army (NA) is currently undergoing vigorous and rare operational, administrative and structural transformation to shore up its capabilities and efficiency in confronting emerging security challenges. The COAS made the revelation when he addressed troops today Wednesday 11 October 2023, at the Headquarters 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. Gen Lagbaja noted further, that since his assumption of command, the Nigerian Army has continued to receive the support of the Federal Government in the form of logistics, combat enablers and welfare support schemes to motivate troops for optimal operational efficiency. Gen Lagbaja catalogued the interventions received from the government to include, clearing the backlog of Group Life Insurance scheme payment to Next of Kins of deceased personnel, Implementation of NA Accident Insurance scheme, Sponsorship cum scholarships for children and wards of personnel, who paid the supreme price, free welfare flights for troops in the front line, medical evacuation of personnel wounded in action for treatment, both in overseas and locally, as well as operationalization of Nigerian Army Aviation with the recent procurement of quantity 12 MD Cayuse Helicopters. He charged the troops to reciprocate the Federal Government's support by remaining loyal to the Constitution and Government of the Federation. The COAS lauded the troops for continuing to neutralize security threats and upholding the integrity of the Division's area of responsibility, thereby enabling peace and harmony in North West Nigeria. He assured them that the challenges confronting the Division will receive appropriate attention, adding that troops' welfare is paramount in his agenda. He called on the troops not to be left behind in the wave of transformation billowing across the Nigerian Army.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Maj Gen Bamidele Alabi had briefed the COAS on the operational, training and administrative activities of the Division, as well as the security situation in the Division's area of responsibility. He added however, that the situation is relatively calm and stable.

The Army Chief later commissioned newly constructed Headquarters Central Ordnance Depot Administrative office complex in the cantonment. While inaugurating the office complex, Gen Lagbaja affirmed that the Central Ordnance Depot will be rejuvenated to provide requisite logistics support to troops in the frontline in the current effort to enhance their operational efficiency. He commended the Commander of the Depot, Brigadier General Yahya Yinusa for the successful completion of the edifice. The COAS equally embarked on a working tour of 81 Battalion, Letmauck Cantonment, Mokola, Ibadan, where he received a brief on the activities and challenges of the Battalion.

The Commander Special Task Force Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) and General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General AE Abubakar, has said Operation SAFE HAVEN is seriously mopping-up illegal arms, ammunition and weapons across its Joint Operation Area of Plateau, Bauchi and Kaduna States. The commander made this known today 10 October 2023, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Mangu town, Plateau State. 

Addressing stakeholders at the event organised by the Miskhagam Mwaghavul, the Comd OPSH/GOC, said through the meeting, he was convinced Mangu Local Government Area and Plateau State at large would begin to enjoy permanent peace. He maintained that forgiveness was key, in order to end the vicious cycle of violence being experienced in Mangu LGA. 

General Abubakar disclosed that the triggers of conflict must be adequately addressed by the appropriate authorities, so as to eradicate crisis in the society. While relaying the Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff directive that everything legal must be done to stop the circle of violence in Mangu LGA, he called on the people to respect the traditional institution, which is the custodian of peace. He reiterated that the killing of the Ardo of Panyam was a criminal act carried out by a few who would soon be brought to justice.

Earlier In their separate remarks, the Emir of Wase, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, Miskhagam Mwaghavul, His Royal Highness Da John Hirse and Chairman Mangu LGA Transition Committee, Honorable Markus Artu, said the meeting was organised to proffer solutions to issues confronting the local government and get everyone onboard in the peace building process embarked upon by relevant authorities. They lauded the Comd OPSH/GOC for his visible contributions and commitment to promoting peace in the State. While underscoring the importance of dialogue in conflict resolution, they appealed to the people to give peace a chance and learn to live with one another. 

In his vote of thanks, the former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Professor Sonni Tyoden, thanked the organizers of the event for creating a platform that give parties involved an opportunity to air their grievances and chart a way forward to addressing all issues raised. He further stated the meeting signifies that traditional rulers are the light in their respective communities. 

Some of the dignitaries present at the meeting include; former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Professor Sonni Tyoden, Emir of Wase, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Muhammadu Sambo Haruna, Miskhagam Mwaghavul, His Royal Highness Da John Hirse, Chairman Mangu LGA Transition Committee, Honorable Markus Artu, Member Representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly and Chief Whip, Honorable Bala Fwangje. Others include Chairman Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Mangu LGA, Chairman Mwaghavul Development Association, Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria Mangu LGA amongst others.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja today 10 October 2023 simultaneously flagged off three training exercises. The exercises are  EXERCISE  STILL WATERS 3, GOLDEN DAWN 3 and ENDURING PEACE 3 in an effort to ensure the protection of lives and property across the federation, as the year draws to an end.

The Exercises, which are to curb the security challenges in the South South, South East, South West and North Central Nigeria, are to run concurrently in the respective geopolitical zones till the year runs out.

Flagging off the Exercise, General Lagbaja maintained that the exercises are to combat diverse emerging security challenges  peculiar to the affected geopolitical zones,  in order to mitigate the spiking of such challenges associated with the last quarter of the year. He added, that this is when many Nigerians travel around the country in the spirit of the yuletide thereby necessitating the need for a safe and enabling environment for citizens to go about their lawful businesses without fear or apprehension.

Gen Lagbaja however charged the troops to carry out their duties diligently within the confines of the law and stipulated codes of conduct. According to the Army Chief, "We should not be a problem to the citizens we are trying to protect". 

In the same vein, the COAS also inaugurated  EXERCISE CLEAN SWEEP" at the Ikeja Cantonment Lagos to clear Unexploded Explosive Ordnances at the site of the unfortunate 2002 bomb blast, which occurred then at the Nigerian Army Cantonment located at Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony, the Army Chief revealed that the objective of the exercise is to completely disinfect the epicenter of the Ikeja bomb blast and clear it of all verified and suspected remaining Unexploded Explosive Ordnances lying around the cantonment.

He pointed out that initial clearance operations ensured some degree of safety in the Cantonment and its environ, adding that the recent discovery of some Unexploded Explosive Ordnances at the site of the blast raised the need for the Nigerian Army to carry out a follow-up clearance exercise in the Cantonment and its environ. 

Noting that the exercise will be conducted for 61 days, the COAS enjoined members of the public, particularly those in Lagos and Ogun states not to panic on sighting the movement of special military vehicles and hearing the sound of explosion    during the conduct of the exercise. He assured that appropriate safety and security measures have been emplaced to guarantee an accident free exercise. He disclosed further that in compliance with global best practice, all relevant emergency and response agencies, including the Nigeria Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, State Emergency Management Agency and the Medics will work in synergy to ensure  successful completion of the exercise.
Gen Lagbaja expressed appreciation to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unflinching support to the Nigerian Army in pursuit of its constitutional responsibilities. He assured that never again will such unfortunate incident be allowed in Nigerian Army Cantonments.

Present at the occasion were the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde, the Oba of Onigbongbo Kingdom,   HRH Oba Adeyemi Ajasa, Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters, General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command,  Heads of security agencies in Lagos state, amongst others.
The COAS later paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos His Royal Majesty Oba Rilwan Akiolu I and visited Headquarters 192 Battalion, Owode, Ogun state.
